Finding Unity at Founders Council in Vienna

Each year, Francesca and I look forward to the annual Amway Founders Council gathering. Over the years, this event has taken us to some of the most beautiful and inspiring places around the world. But this year’s Founders Council in Vienna, Austria was one of the most memorable experiences I can remember.

Founders Council is a prestigious event where leading Amway Business Owners from around the world come together to connect, reflect, and look ahead. More than 130 leaders attended this year, representing 10 Amway markets, and the energy was remarkable.

From the moment we arrived, Vienna left a lasting impression. The 40-minute drive from the airport was modest at first, passing through industrial outskirts. But as we crossed into the historic heart of the city, we were met with a different world—majestic facades, ornate palaces, and cobblestone streets that spoke of centuries past.

Vienna is a city steeped in legacy. Once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it stood at the epicenter of history, playing a central role in the events that led to World War I. That conflict fractured nations and changed the course of the world. And yet, more than a century later, Vienna stands as a symbol of transformation—known today for diplomacy, peace, and cultural exchange. Walking its streets, I was reminded of the power of resilience and the possibility of healing. With time and intention, unity can grow from division.

And that was the spirit I felt at this year’s Founders Council.

A Sense of Unity

Despite our different languages, backgrounds, and markets, we were unified by something deeper, a shared purpose. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie. It didn’t feel like a formal business gathering. It felt like a reunion of friends who believe in something bigger than themselves.

One of Amway’s greatest strengths has always been our ability to connect people, to create opportunity, foster wellbeing, and uplift communities through trust and personal connection. We’re not just a company with products on store shelves. We are a community rooted in shared values, where healthy living is passed through word-of-mouth, person to person. And it all starts with unity.

That’s why Founders Council is so important. It’s where we renew the bond between leadership and our global ABO community. It’s where we remind each other that we’re in this together, committed to helping people live better lives for the long haul. And that begins with being a product of the product.

Continued focus on Health and Wellbeing

Our continued focus on health and wellbeing was reinforced by several featured speakers, including Dr. David Furman from the Stanford School of Medicine, who spoke on anti-aging, and Dr. Jean Krutmann from the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine, who shared insights on the connection between skin health and the environment.

We also heard from gastroenterologist Dr. Robynne Chutkan, who provided a deep dive into gut health. Her presentation was truly dynamic, and it helped me appreciate the importance of our microbiome even more.

And, of course, it was an absolute privilege to hear from Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. Andre’s story of perseverance, about struggle, purpose, and self-discovery, was moving. It reminded me that greatness isn’t a straight line. It’s often found in how we overcome.

Looking ahead, the next Founders Council is planned for Sardinia, and at 90-years-young, I certainly hope to be there. I’m filled with hope for what lies ahead, and I find deep comfort in the strength, positive spirit, and unity of our Amway family.

Until next time!!

Dr. Sam

Dr. Sam's Journey

The pursuit of wellness

Wellness has always been central to my story. When my father, Carl F. Rehnborg, founded Nutrilite in 1934, his goal was to help people everywhere take responsibility for their health, their wealth, and the planet. Even then, he knew that all these things were interconnected. His vision shaped my own path—a journey grounded in curiosity, science, and a passion for helping others live well.

Amway & Nutrilite

Farming

Farming for the future

There’s a long history of farming innovation at Nutrilite. It started when my father, Carl F. Rehnborg, began growing alfalfa in the 1930s before we even knew to call it organic. He was looking for the purest, most nutritious botanicals, and he already knew that they needed to be grown sustainably and naturally, without any synthetic fertilizers or chemicals. That same belief continues to guide us today.
